Endorse This: Congratulations-In-Chief For Marriage Equality

Jim Obergefell helped make history as the lead plaintiff in the landmark marriage equality case that the Supreme Court ruled on today. In fighting for his marriage to his late husband to be recognized, Obergefell won a decisive victory for same-sex couples throughout the country. And while he was speaking to CNN outside the courthouse today, he got a very special congratulatory phone call — from President Obama himself.

“I’m really proud of you. And just know that not only have you been a great example for people, but you’re also going to bring about a lasting change in this country,” Obama told him. “And it’s pretty rare when that happens. So I couldn’t be prouder of you and your husband, and God bless you.”
